Note Taker: Pat Fausnight, At-Large
Elvia Lujan, Property Manager
Meeting called to Order by: Gale Macziewski at 6:27pm (Air conditioning was out in the clubhouse; therefore, meeting began a couple minutes early)
Welcome & Recognition of Members Present: Gary & Susan Petras, Dick & Karen Spencer, Ruth Brown, Pat & Amanda Jones, Debbie Macziewski, David & Theresa Lynch, and Barbara DeCapua
Approval of Minutes:
Motion to approve June minutes made by Bill Abernathy, second by Pat Fausnight; the motion carried with all in favor.
Financial Reports: Evon presented Financial Report. A budget will be created to present at annual meeting. ACC Committee Gary Petras- Two Permits were submitted. One permit for storage building Lot A-59. Second permit is for an enclosure of an existing carport Lot A-59. ROADS Committee Bo Brown claims Beachwood is two weeks out in possibly seeing road construction. Overlay, pot holes, and milling will take place. Evon Nuss has questioned if we have gotten bids from other companies to work on roads. Bo did not get other bids. Evon Nuss believes getting other bids has been discussed in the past. Bids from various companies should be introduced in order to compare bids. Removal of stump: Pat Fausnight has said stump and plants on top of stump interfere with camera. License plates are not visible for the camera to capture. She recommends to remove stump and replace with brush. Plants bought are just dying and/or get full of insects. Continuous purchase of plants that continue to die are not a solution. Gale has mentioned, some community members have asked for improvement to entry gate. Gale & Evon question if, as a community, does Beachwood want to spend 3,500.00 on improvements? OR will volunteers help with improvements? Theresa Lynch suggested river rocks. Evon will request suggestions for annual meeting. Clubhouse Rental: Gale Macziewski would like to implement a breakdown sheets of how much to charge for possible damages, clean up, etc. in the clubhouse.
Residents: Ruth Brown asked about the number residents that actually live here. Bill Abernathy will work on this count. (UPDATE: Bill Abernathy has counted 62 families of 115 homes are permanent residents.) Trees: Bill has mentioned two dead trees that need to be removed. A vote is not needed. Dead trees will be removed. Meeting Moved: Owner of homes/lots have requested that meeting be moved to a weekend and/or a different day of the week so those who do not live in the community could attend meeting. Ruth Brown added if possibly using facetime or live feed may work. Theresa Lynch suggested rotating the meetings. Pat Fausnight does not believe changing the meeting to a different day would improve on attendance. Annual meeting is set on a weekend, there is no difference in attendance compared to a regular meeting. Abandoned Jet Skis/Boats: Gary Petras states there are about 6-8 abandoned jet skis. He will trace TX number to get a name and number and see what can be done to remove them from Beachwood Estates. Muddy Roads: Gary is in communication with water company in reference to an overload of dirt in and around roads. It is causing mud on some roadways. Wild Pigs: 7-8 pigs have been spotted. Baiting and trapping hogs in D-Section was discussed. Pool Hours: Barbara DeCapua asked if pool hours would be extended this year. Bill Abernathy does not believe that pool hours is worth extending. No one stays late enough to keep open. Pool Cleanliness: Barbara DeCapua has complained about the cleanliness of the pool. Bill Abernathy states pumped was fixed on pool just this morning (7/16/18). Burn Ban: Beachwood is under a Burn Ban. Community residents who attended meeting would like to see Burn Ban signs posted.
June's Meeting Agenda was reviewed in July's Meeting:
Culverts: In the previous years, water company has worked with Gary Petras to blow out culverts. Bo will send a list to Gary in hopes that we can get water company to come out and blow out those in dire need of cleaning.
July's results in reference to culverts: Bo Brown has cleaned out culverts. There are only four (4) culverts that still need cleaning. Gary is waiting on list from Bo to ask water company for their help.
Dock Repair: POA will ask volunteers to help repair boards on docks.
July's results in reference to Dock Repair: Volunteers have replaced boards on dock.
Improvement to Boat Launch:: Gale Macziewski states people have expressed to him about improvements in the boat launch area, such as cleats around the Beachwood POA docking area. Lasaro Lujan Jr. agrees, cleats should be replaced. No decision was made at this time.
July's results in reference to Boat Launch: Gale states he will get with Cheetos to see if he would like to help with replacing cleats.
No Wake Zone in POA cove: Gale Macziewski states that the community would benefit in having buoys around the Beachwood POA cove. This step does have to go through the Water Board. Kenneth Kilgore states that though they are there, it is not enforceable. A number of jet skis have been a nuisance in and around the boat ramp area and have no sense of self-aware about "No Wake Zone" in the boat ramp area or cove. Bo states people may not pay attention just as they do not in the garbage area. Gary Petras agrees with Gale and states a visual Buoys can possibly help them (jet skiers) be aware. He also states, that there have been buoys there in the past there, but along the years they have broken off. Gale will look into permits, plans, as wells as the cost of having this placed in the Beachwood POA cove.
July's Results in reference to No Wake Zone in POA cove: Gale Macziewski states it is harder than he thought in placing a No Wake Zone in cove. He needs four (4) signature from surrounded neighbors to sign and accepted having a No Wake Zone in the cove area.
Fire Ants: There has been complaints of ants in the pools area. Pest control will be called out to see if they can help control the problem..
July's Results in reference to Fire Ants: Bill Abernathy has met with pest control. Pest control does not believe they are fire ants. These particular ants are coming from the trees and landing into the pool. Bill Abernathy has since bought ant granules to treat and reduce the problem.
Evon Nuss Motion to adjourn, second Pat Fausnight; all in favor.
